Professor Cooper has made outstanding research contributions in the field of polyurethane elastomers. In recognition of his lifelong achievements, he was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering in 2011 and received the AIChE Founders Award in 2015.

Stuart L. Cooper presents to the William G. Lowrie Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering's National Committee for New Koffolt Labs

Stuart Cooper was the driving force that helped bring the dream of a new Koffolt Labs to fruition. The Koffolt Committee, led by William G. Lowrie, raised over $17M for the department's share of the $125 million facility. 

He led the department of chemical engineering for ten years, hiring numerous faculty and expanding the department's base of alumni supporters.

Stuart Cooper has mentored 61 Ph.D. students and 23 M.S. students. Seven of these students are now professors in leading universities and one is a chemical engineering department chair.
